Nestled in the heart of Santa Fe at 95 W Marcy St, Horno Restaurant redefines the local dining scene with its embrace of “fine food” — an ethos that blends elevated flavors with an inviting, unpretentious atmosphere. Since reopening post-Covid with a fresh identity beyond its Italian roots, Horno has become a cherished destination for both locals and visitors craving thoughtfully crafted dishes that surprise and satisfy with every bite.
The culinary experience here is a harmonious celebration of diverse ingredients and bold, nuanced flavors. Their menu is a tour de force—from the fluffy, aromatic focaccia that arrives at the table, gently warm and dimpled with olive oil, to the tantalizingly rich and savory burger that balances juicy meat with fresh accompaniments. Seafood lovers will find pure delight in the grilled octopus, tender with a smoky char, or the sea bass and nightly fish special alight with bright, Mediterranean-inspired touches like romesco meuniere. The squid ink pasta is a particular standout, with its subtly briny notes and striking ebony hue creating both a visual and gustatory feast.
Vegetable-centric dishes also shine, with the vibrantly fresh beet salad and deftly spiced pork belly tostadas offering layers of texture and flavor. The meatball appetizer, paired with expertly grilled bread and a sauce that perfectly balances sweet and tangy, was repeatedly praised by diners, underscoring the kitchen’s attention to detail and balance.
Horno’s dessert offerings are an elegant finale to the meal — from the decadent chocolate tahini torte with its rich, velvety depth, to a delicately caramelized vanilla crème brûlée, and the uniquely comforting house-made pop-tart with ice cream, which marries nostalgia with culinary sophistication. Pairing these with after-dinner cocktails like the smooth Espresso Martini or the indulgently sweet La Cioccolata Bianca Martini elevates the experience further. For those who appreciate dessert wines, Horno offers a curated selection of world-renowned options such as the honeyed French Chateau Laribotte Sauternes or the robust, aged Taylor Fladgate 20 Year Tawny Porto.
But Horno is not just about fantastic food — it’s the warm, intimate ambiance that captures diners’ hearts. The space remains cozy and unpretentious, fostering conversation and connection without feeling noisy or sterile. Multiple guests have noted attentive yet unobtrusive service that makes the entire evening feel effortlessly special. With occasions ranging from large gatherings to intimate dinners, the vibe here is always inviting and comfortable.
Real guest experiences further affirm Horno’s reputation. Chef’s Apprentice John Hornick applauds the owners for delivering “fine food” that resonates with both locals and visitors alike, a sentiment echoed by diners who rave about standout dishes like the grilled hanger steak on romesco and the pork chop paired with spring vegetables and preserved lemons. Rebekah Antrosio highlights the “lovely presentation” and “topnotch dining experience” brought by a dedicated local chef and family-run approach.
Whether you’re craving bold seafood, inventive takes on comfort classics, or a creative dessert that stays with you long after the last bite, Horno Restaurant delivers with heart and finesse. It’s a Santa Fe gem where fine food feels approachable and every dish tells a story worth savoring.

Category: Fine Food. Both visitors and locals love this restaurant, no matter what it is. We dined there for many years in its prior incarnation as an Italian restaurant. Since Covid, it has been Horno and the owners are doing a great job serving what they call fine food, not fine dining. In fact, I adopted Fine Food as a review category after having a conversation with one of the owners a couple of years ago. The space is simple, off-white walls with hints of Santa Fe architectural elements, beamed ceiling in one of the two dining rooms, a few pieces of well-placed original art, and a short wall-facing bar. The design is pulled together by a hardwood plank floor that has seen many boots over many years. If you read my reviews, you know I spend as much -- if not more -- time describing restaurants' atmosphere as I do discussing the food. That's because I won't dine anywhere that I don't feel good. I feel good here. The owners call this place a gastropub. I think the food and the atmosphere are a bit finer than that, but I agree that it is a comfortable place. The wine list has enough under-$60 bottles to make us happy, and one bottle under $40, which makes us really happy. The menu is an eclectic mix of dishes, from a burger that once won Santa Fe's famous annual Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown, to a couple of Italian-sih dishes, to Bouillabaisse (for 2), to a couple of Asian-ish dishes. On our most recent visit, we sat at the bar, as we often do, and really enjoyed the Korean BBQ Beef Short Ribs and the Dumplings. Although the latter were vegetarian, we added shrimp. But the highlight of this dish was the really delicious lemon grass, coconut, kaffir lime broth. It was so good we took the remaining broth home even though we had eaten all the goodies in it. If you are looking for al fresco dining, there is a line of covered tables on either side of the entrance and sidewalk umbrellaed tables added during Covid that seem to have become permanent. All dog friendly. We have also attended rent-out-the-restaurant parties at Horno, where they do a great job with passed appetizers, food stations, and bringing you a glass of wine even though you moved since ordering it. Great service from the moment we entered. Server was attentive, but not intrusive, food was outstanding, cocktails delicious. Started with the tuna tartare, which was fresh and lemony. Better half had the grilled hangar steak on romesco, I had the pork chop on a bed of couscous with spring vegetables and preserved lemons. Both were delicious, but would probably choose the hanger steak next time. Vibe is casual, not pretentious, but they are serious about what they serve. Just a wonderful experience.
Came here with a group of 16 people and we got a private table in the main room. Good: - Overall the variety of food was really good and the meatball appetizer was super good it came with really grilled bread and a really tasty sauce. - The vegetable dumplings had a really savory and sweet sauce that I enjoyed greatly - The main dish was great but not my favorite compared to the appetizers and the other things that they offered since it was a lot of steak and some of it just was super dry. Bad: - The place was pretty simple, nothing too fancy even in the main living room - I found the cocktails to be a little too sweet - The creme brulee was too sweet for me I took two bites then gave up Overall this was a good experience I liked how much food we got and I was stuffed by the end of the meal.
Fantastic restaurant in downtown Santa Fe! Wonderful local chef and family proving a top-notch dining experience. Food is delicious with lovely presentation. Great wine list and fabulous cocktail menu as well. We enjoyed a seasonal heirloom salad along with focaccia, lobster & scallop cannelloni, a roasted chicken and lemon cake. A true delight! Don’t miss this gem in Santa Fe.
This is a gem. Truly. Small. Intimate without being noisy. The food is spectacular. We had reservations for a Saturday night. We were seated right away. Our server recommended the special which was a sea trout. With couscous. We both opted for that as our entrees and I didn’t disappoint. Perfectly cook fish. We had the focaccia as a starter and the burata salad. Outstanding. The focaccia was the best I’ve had. We opted for an apple pastry with Ice cream for dessert. One of the best meals we have had in awhile. Make a reservation and go.
Came to Horno last year for dinner and had to come back on our last night just to get the pop tart. SO delicious! Located near fun shops, great atmosphere, tasty food. My only qualm from last year is that the portions for the price didn't quite add up. Would return for sure!
Had dinner there tonight - absolutely superb. Greeted at the door with a smile and seated on time. Our waitress was a lovely and informed young lady. Drinks to start were great. Too many great things on the menu so my wife and I split a few appetizers and one entree. The octopus app was mind-blowing -- a sushi like presentation- the octopus was charred and amazing over incredible sticky rice and the wasabi whip with it was so good. Tuna tartare out of this world - crunch y exterior with an amazing inside. Split the grilled bone-in pork chop- wow. Cooked perfect and so tasty. Prices are fair - and at the end of the meal the chef and owner came out and chatted with us for a few - very nice and interesting gent. Can't recommend Horno enough - go and you will love the whole experience.
